The forward journey of the riders are time bound but the return journeys where the order assignment happens only when the rider is back to store, the riders take a lot of time coming back to the store which affects the overall rider utilization.

To tackle such cases, new functionality has been added called “Estimated Time of Return” (ETR) which will show riders the time left to reach back to the store with a button “Back To Store” to stop the clock and register themselves back in the store.

Image 1: Shows the ETR (estimated time of return) with a timer clock
Image 2: Will show a timer clock with delay calculated based on ETR

Complete logic and flow is shown below in a table:

ETR (estimated time of return) CalculationETR will be taken from the first Return ETA calculated present currently in the order status API when the rider swipes “delivered” optionThe rider will see the negative timer clock on the mobile appETR column will be having a negative counter for the ETR

The rider will see the negative time counter on the app
ETR will be reduced as per the calculated ETR
Rider is on the way to store and the time left is less than xx secondsTo send alerts to the driver and mark the status as delayedThe message, in this case, can be changed and with a different background colour and text
Rider is LateIn case the rider has not reached the store in the timeA configurable message to be shown on the mobile app with background color, icon, and text. The background of dispatch screen’s rider section’s returning to store bucket will also be highlighted in case the rider gets late.
