In order to improve container tracking, we have introduced a couple of tweaks to improve accuracy and minimize errors.
SCAC Code Addition
SCAC (Standard Carrier Alpha Codes) are the standard set of codes used by vessel carriers and assigned by NMFTA (a US-based organization). It is a US-based code by nature, so not all shipping lines will have SCAC codes.
In a nutshell, SCAC codes are unique 4-letter codes that help identify shipping lines. As a Shipsy user, you can now add shipments along with SCAC codes. This helps reduce failure due to incorrect shipping line names being used.
Vessel Data Download
As part of enhancing the vessel tracking feature, we have started capturing data points such as IMO numbers and voyage numbers. These, along with latitude-longitude information, can now be downloaded by shippers in the shipment download for enhanced vessel tracking.
